Cannock 3s delivered a commanding performance in their away fixture against Finchfield, securing a well-deserved 3-0 victory. From the first whistle, Cannock dominated proceedings, creating early opportunities and applying consistent pressure in the opposition’s D.
The breakthrough came from an impressive link-up play involving the youth of the team, culminating in a tidy finish by Mr. Wigg to put Cannock ahead. The visitors continued their relentless pressure, which paid off when a well-executed short corner routine ended with a clinical bottom-corner strike, doubling the lead.
Cannock’s cohesive play was evident throughout, with sharp passing and intelligent off-the-ball movement causing problems for Finchfield. A standout moment arrived when Taran and Wigg combined brilliantly, leading to a stunning finish by Taran into the roof of the net – the goal of the game.
The second half saw Finchfield seemingly go in to damage limitation mode and to their credit, executing this well. Although Cannock continued to dominate possession and rotate their substitutes freely, Finchfield stood firm defensively and held out to keep the score at as it was for the remainder of the game. With great defensive build up play and impressive ball retention, the visitors left the happier of the sides and will be proud to have executed their game plan throughout.
Sam Willis earned the Man of the Match award for his excellent performance in a new position, epitomizing a day of positives for Cannock. With more to come from this talented side, the victory marks another step forward in their campaign.
